Helpful guidance for students starting their healthcare journey.
Your first week covers medical terminology, patient rights, infection control, and hands-on skills like hand hygiene and proper body mechanics. Come ready to take notes and ask questions — every concept builds on the next.
Study venipuncture procedures, order of draw, and specimen handling daily. Practice with flashcards for tube colors and additives. Review OSHA safety standards and take timed practice tests in the final week before your exam.
Michigan Works! offers funding for in-demand healthcare careers including CNA. Eligible students may have tuition covered at no cost. Contact your local Michigan Works office before enrolling to find out if you qualify — seats fill fast.
